CATMEDIA Entertainment has submitted its first full-length feature film, titled Mnemosyne, to the 2018 Sundance Film Festival for consideration. The southern gothic thriller was written, directed, and produced by an unlikely pair.
CATMEDIA CEO, Catherine Downey teamed up with her son William Warren to turn his original five-act play into the company’s first film. Not only did Downey and her son work together on the film, but her daughter Jeannette was also a part of the process as a co-writer and on-set production assistant.
“Working with family presented its own unique set of challenges, but I think we all learned a lot from each other, and ultimately we gained respect for each other, not only as family members, but also as collaborators,” said William, director of Mnemosyne.
In addition to being the company’s first narrative feature film, Mnemosyne is also a woman-produced film. Starring Nia Peeples, a veteran actor who most recently starred in Pretty Little Liars, the film follows a charismatic Pastor (played by Dean Kostlich) who leads his devoted followers to believe they are the sole survivors in a post apocalyptic world.
